Gracie was brought into the practice by the RSPCA on the brink of death, having been found neglected and severely emaciated. She was so weak that she was unable to stand and had never seen the outside world so was terrified of everything and everyone.
Gracie underwent three months of rehabilitation, which included a carefully structured diet plan to increase her bodyweight safely, close monitoring of her physiological condition, behavioural training, and socialisation.
Gracie may have suffered some long-term damage to her joints and internal organs as a result of the way she was treated and we will need to monitor this as she grows up.
She has now been successfully rehomed with the parents of one of our nurses and is a very happy, sociable little dog, despite her poor start in life.
