Reception Vacancy

This vacancy is initially for maternity cover, but there may be potential for a permanent position in the future.

The vacancy is for 40 hours per week, to include Saturday mornings on a rota basis. Mainly based at our busy Taunton branch, the successful candidate will also be required to work at our Wiveliscombe branch where necessary.

The role:

  • Delivering excellent customer service
  • A wide range of general reception duties including cash handling, administration duties and stock control
  • Dispensing medicines (full training will be given)
  • Weighing animals and on occasion assisting vets in consults
  • Assisting in keeping the public areas of the practice clean and tidy and displays up to date.
  • Dealing with all enquiries in a professional and courteous manner, in person, on the telephone or via e-mail.
  • Liaising effectively with all members of the practice team.

Previous veterinary practice experience an advantage but not essential as full training will be given.

The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic and personable individual with the skills to deal with people as well as their animals. At times the position will involve lone working and the successful candidate will be self-motivated and able to use their initiative.

After a successful probation period there will be the opportunity for official AMTRA training and qualifications in Animal Medicines Advising.
